Day 26 – Valencia

Our final full day in Valencia, after class we said goodbye to a few people who where travelling that night while we made plans with the rest for dinner. Once plans where made, we headed down south again to a national reserve opposite a beach. It was a large wetlands area, home to fishing and vast and varied wildlife. Small sailing boats dotted the shore offering tourists a chance to see the lake

We then changed our course and made our way slowly to the beach. It was a much more “free and liberal” area as we stumbled upon a couple expressing there naked love for each other. When we arrived at the beach it also appeared to be clothing optional. We eventually found a spot without any people and enjoyed the waves and water before heading back to the city.

That night we again enjoyed sangria, tapas and a big serving of paella as we all swapped stories of places we had been and shared our dreams of places we want to visit. The conversation once again flowed in to the night as we eventually had to part ways and pre pair for our travels the following morning

Bled – Slovenias only island

The Bled lake and island is located a short journey from the Slovenian capital of Ljubljana. I have been and visited many lakes in my travels, but this one is easily in the top 3. The walk down from the bus stop towards the lake twists down through the town, the waters are crystal clear and perched atop of a cliff overlooking everything is the bled castle

In the middle of the lake sits an island with a church and nothing else located on it. Row boats dot the shore line and you can rent them for around €10 to go visit the island.

The church is beautiful and a small wooden board walk surrounds the island giving you a lovely view of the fish swimming in the shallows and of the bled castle.

The walk around the entire lake takes a few hours and there are a few places to stop for lunch during it. But if you can wait till you are at the castle, you can grab a bite to eat and a coffee with a fantastic view

Plitvice Lakes

These lakes are probably the most glorious lakes I have seen. They differ from the regular simply by having an incredibly radiant blue colour

The lakes are accessible by a bus ride from Zagreb and many companies offer day trips so that you dont have to queue for tickets. I strongly urge anyone in the area to go and see these UNESCO listed lakes

Plus they have countless waterfalls and it’s a beautiful place to stroll around. Just be warned that you cannot swim in the lakes. If you do you could face a massive fine.
