Day 27 – Valencia to Barcelona

Today was a fairly relaxed day. We caught a bus from Valencia to Barcelona which only took around 3 hours. We walked to our accommodation and then went for a delicious feed of sushi. The girlfriend and I are both big sushi buffs, so finding a sushi buffet with quality food as a big high light.

That afternoon we recovered from our sushi hangovers with a pleasant walk around the streets of Barcelona. The air was nice and warm as we cruised the streets and ran in to a couple of Gaudis architecture

That evening we returned home early, tired from our travelling and slept incredibly well

Day 26 – Valencia

Our final full day in Valencia, after class we said goodbye to a few people who where travelling that night while we made plans with the rest for dinner. Once plans where made, we headed down south again to a national reserve opposite a beach. It was a large wetlands area, home to fishing and vast and varied wildlife. Small sailing boats dotted the shore offering tourists a chance to see the lake

We then changed our course and made our way slowly to the beach. It was a much more “free and liberal” area as we stumbled upon a couple expressing there naked love for each other. When we arrived at the beach it also appeared to be clothing optional. We eventually found a spot without any people and enjoyed the waves and water before heading back to the city.

That night we again enjoyed sangria, tapas and a big serving of paella as we all swapped stories of places we had been and shared our dreams of places we want to visit. The conversation once again flowed in to the night as we eventually had to part ways and pre pair for our travels the following morning

Day 25 – Valencia

It was our second last day of class and I like to think I’m slowly picking some things up. But fortunately soon it was over and we where left to our own devices. We decided this afternoon to wander around the city rather then head to the beach. We had a lovely afternoon just pottering around and stumbling upon more street art

That night, everyone in the course headed out together for some drinks and food. We had a great time chatting with our new friends and we all enjoyed ourselves greatly. The delicious agua la Valencia (a sweet drink with fruits and vodka) poured in to our glasses many times as we talked and laughed in to the night.

Day 24 – Valencia

The morning went by without a hitch, I’m starting to pick more words out of a spoke  sentence in Spanish. So I guess I’m learning something. The afternoon was again spent at the beach, however this time we ventured away from the main tourist spot and went south.

We stopped at Saler, a small town about 30minutes outside of Valencia and enjoyed a beach that had waves you could slightly bodysurf on. We went with a few people from the hostel and enjoyed a game of beach tennis as well.

That night we journeyed out again in search of Sangria and Tapas and found it in abundance. The seafood in this part of the world is fresh and delicious. Calamares grilled with some oil and garlic was always a favorite.

We also walked past some impressive street art the adorns many spots in Valencia.

Day 23 – Valencia

Well the previous day of study hadn’t really done much and the confusion stayed for all of the lesson. But it’s still fun trying to learn and pick up things along the way.

Once class was finished we once again headed to the beach, where the sun was out in force and rays soaked in to the skin, only for the heat to be washed away with the occasional dip in to the Mediterranean.

The afternoon and evening was spent enjoying a Mojito and some Tapas as buskers played the Spanish guitar in the back ground.

Day 22 – Valencia

After a very confusing morning of trying to learn Spanish. We eventually made our way towards the beach. The temperature had hit the high 30’s again and the water felt amazing.

It’s still a weird concept being at a beach without any waves, but we enjoyed ourselves in the water and it gave me plenty of time to work on my tan.

After numerous hours of soaking in the sun, we headed home to enjoy the crisp feeling of air conditioning and study a little bit of Spanish so that hopefully the next day made more sense.

Day 21 – Paris to Valencia

We had a small sleep in this morning, enjoyed a lovely breakfast of savoury crepes and then hauled all of our gear to the airport.

When we left Paris it was a cool 21 degrees and when we landed in Valencia it was hitting the 36 mark. We checked in to our hostel, met a girl who was doing the same Spanish course as us and we decided to head out and go exploring.

We took in much that the old part of Valencia had to offer, the winding streets and amazing architecture that occasionally open up into amazing little plazas where you can find people drinking sangria and eating tapas.

The cathedral in the centre of town also comes to life in the afternoon and is a good place to gather your bearings in the city

After hours of wandering we returned to our hostel, cooked our first meal in awhile and enjoyed some R&R in the air conditioning
